Requirement to Establish a School Site Council
 
The California Education Code (EC 64001 (a) requires the school site council to develop a Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) for Consolidated Application programs operated at the school. The stated purpose of the SPSA is to "improve the academic performance of all pupils to the level of the performance goals, as established by the Academic Performance Index." The council recommends the proposed plan to the local governing board for approval, monitors its implementation, and evaluates the results. At least annually, the council must revise and recommend the plan, including proposed expenditures of all funds allocated to the school through the Consolidated Application, to the local governing board for approval.
 
Responsibilities of the Council
 
a)      Develop/revise and approve the Single Plan for Student Achievement for School Board approval (goals, strategies,     
          funding sources, budget etc.)
b)      Review student achievement data (STAR, API scores, Reading and Math benchmark assessment results, CELDT
          results, attendance, suspension etc.)     
c)      On-going review of the implementation of the various components of SPSA
d)      On-going review of the effectiveness of the strategies and make modifications as needed.
