Absence/Illness/Tardy

ATTENDANCE

If a student is absent from or tardy to school, parents/guardians must:

Call the Attendance office (901-7000) on each day of the student’s absence OR send a signed note with the student excusing the absence or tardy.
If we do not have a response from the parents/guardians, after ten (10) days, the absence or tardy remains as an “unexcused” absence.    Truancy as defined by the state is:
  • more than 3 unexcused absences OR
  • more than 30 minutes tardy each day OR
  • more than 3 days unexcused tardies OR
  • excessive excused absences

Students who are considered truant are referred to an Administrator. Various interventions are attempted to produce better attendance from the student.
Students may be placed on a Behavior Agreement outlining specific attendance expectations. The Behavior Agreement is monitored and if poor attendance continues, students/parents will be required to attend a Student Intervention Meeting.
