Empowering Parents Workshop
Empowering Parents Workshops Coming to OUSD The Oceanside Unified School District is committed to doing everything within its power to provide all students the tools and resources necessary to find success in a global economy. As part of this mission, the district is sponsoring a series of Empowering Parents and College Bound workshops to help ensure every student graduates from high school with the option to attend college. The workshops serve as building blocks to assist both parents and students to meet the educational needs of all OUSD students. Workshops will be held at El Camino High and Oceanside High and are open to ALL parents of K-12 OUSD students. Please look for a flyer your student will be bringing home in the next two weeks. The first workshops will be held at the following locations: El Camino High School, Wednesday, Oct. 7, 6 p.m. – For all ECHS, Ocean Shores HS, Chavez MS, King MS and all elementary feeder schools for these campuses. Oceanside HS, Tuesday, Oct. 20, 6 p.m. – For all OHS, CBA, Jefferson MS, Lincoln MS, and all elementary feeder schools for these campuses. Los talleres dirigidos a Facultar a los Padres de Familia ya vienen a OUSD El Distrito Escolar Unificado de Oceanside (OUSD) está comprometido a hacer todo lo posible para proporcionar a los estudiantes las herramientas y los recursos necesarios para tener éxito en la economía global. Como parte de esta misión, el distrito patrocinará las siguientes series de talleres: Programa para Facultar a los Padres de Familia y En Camino a la Universidad. Estos talleres tienen como propósito asegurar que cada uno de los estudiantes se gradúe con la opción de continuar sus estudios superiores. Los talleres servirán como los cimientos para ayudar a los padres y sus hijos a alcanzar las metas educativas de todos los estudiantes de nuestro distrito. Los talleres se llevarán a cabo en la Escuela Preparatoria El Camino y la Escuela Preparatoria Oceanside. Estos talleres están abiertos a TODOS los padres de estudiantes en los grados K-12. Por favor estén pendientes del volante que sus hijos llevarán a casa en las próximas dos semanas. Los primeros talleres se llevarán a cabo en los sitios siguientes: Escuela Preparatoria El Camino, miércoles, 7 de octubre, 6 p.m. – Para estas escuelas: Escuelas Preparatorias El Camino y Ocean Shores, Escuelas Secundarias Chávez y King, y todas las escuelas primarias que remiten estudiantes a estos planteles educativos. Escuela Preparatoria Oceanside, martes, 20 de octubre, 6 p.m. – Para estas escuelas: Escuela Preparatoria Oceanside, Academia Clair Burgener, Escuelas Secundarias Jefferson y Lincoln, y todas las escuelas primarias que remiten estudiantes a estos planteles educativos. Oceanside Turkey Trot
Turkey Trot Helps Raise Money for OUSD Schools
What is fast becoming an annual tradition, the O’Side Turkey Trot will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26. The community event is a way to promote health and fitness in youth, and to provide financial support to local schools.
All Turkey Trot runners can designate an OUSD school to receive a $5 donation for each entry fee. As the number of runners registered for the race increases, so does the financial potential for Oceanside schools. One hundred runners can help earn $500 for one school site.
Medals will be awarded to each participant that finishes the race, while all runners 17 years of age and under will receive a “Move Your Feet Before You Eat” backpack. The race will include a costume contest, with runners encouraged to come dressed in outfits reflective of the Thanksgiving Day holiday.
The Open 5K run/walk begins at 7 a.m., with the “locals only” 5K slated for 8:15 a.m. Children 12 years of age and under can take part in a 1 mile race starting at 9:30 a.m.
